1998: A New Fence for the Garden - The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation
with a grant from the Astor Foundation, installed a
wrought-iron fence around the Jefferson Market Garden. After the
Women's House of Detention closed in the 1970s, it was replaced with a
beautiful community garden where library-sponsored children's programs
are sometimes held.

"Friends of the Jefferson Market Bell" (inspired by
fellow preservationist Margot Gayle).
