PORTALS TO THE PAST
The Smithtown Historical Society is committed to designing programs that are hands-on, inquiry based, and multidisciplinary.
All programs adhere to the standards set by the New York State Board of Regents for Social Studies. They provide an opportunity
for students to experience life of another time and have the fun of holding history in their hands. School programs are based on
the Smithtown Historical Society's museum and library collections.
The Smithtown Historical Society is home to thousands of artifacts and archival materials of significance to American history.
Situated on over twenty acres of land in the heart of the Township, the Historical Society owns or administers over fourteen historic structures.
