Location:
MacLaughlin Park is located in Fieldston on Greystone Avenue between West 238th Street and West 240th Street.

MacLaughlin Park is a popular small playground. It is a nearly enclosed playground. MacLaughlin Park is aimed at toddlers, preschoolers, and young children.

NOTE: There are two levels to MacLaughlin Park. There are four steps between the lower and upper levels.

Swing equipment:
MacLaughlin Park has four swings: two full bucket molded plastic infant swings and two full bucket cross leather infant swings.

Climbing equipment:
There are two climbing frames on two different levels at MacLaughlin Park. Note: there are four steps between the two climbing frames.

The lower level climbing frame is located to the back of the swings and gate entrance. There are NO openings in the climbing frame. It is designed for ages 2-5.
The climbing frame has five graduated steps on it; a two-foot high infant slide; a three-foot high straight slide;
two graduated steps; a two-step ladder; a three-step ladder; three-step vertical ladder;
a five-step ladder; and mirrors.
NOTE: None of the equipment is wheelchair accessible or meets ADA guidelines.

The upper level climbing frame is located to the right of the swings and gate entrance. There are openings in the climbing frame so children may fall off. It is designed for ages 6-12.
The climbing frame has five steps on it; a five-foot high straight slide with three steps to it; a three-step loop pole ladder;
two graduated steps; a three-step vertical ladder; one horizontal overhead bar;
a six-foot high overhead horizontal loop pole ladder; and a five-foot high horizontal ladder or monkey bars.
NOTE: None of the equipment is wheelchair accessible or meets ADA guidelines.

Sandbox:
MacLaughlin Park does not have a sandbox.

Shading and park surface:
MacLaughlin Park has about 20% shade. MacLaughlin Park has an asphalt surface with black rubber safety mats under the climbing equipment and swings.

Facilities:
MacLaughlin Park has a sprinkler, a water fountain, plenty of park benches, and two card table benches but no restrooms. The closest restrooms are located at restaurants on 238th Street or Riverdale Avenue.

Local features:
MacLaughlin Park has a two foot high stationary cement horse in the upper level section. More significantly, MacLaughlin Park hosts POTH.

POTH is the acronym for Preschool on the Hudson. POTH is a free activity, led by Riverdale parents and caregivers for our children.
We target the preschool set, but welcome all children to participate, play, explore, discover, and grow. All are welcome to attend.
