Bollards

With Rosta Jozsef and András Böröcz
1998
Black and white photos, rubber balls, book linen and board
6 book objects: 16" x 6" x 6" each
Edition of 5

In a continued effort to comprehend the meaning of certain objects, this collaboration turned to the bollard: the stone, metal or concrete architectural form on the corner of portals, built to protect the doorway from damage by moving vehicles. Through sculpture, photo-documentary, and photo fiction, the three create and recreate this object, and finally Silverberg designed and assembled a set of 6 box objects that can be manipulated to function as bollards themselves.
