Three Scrolls

1996
Dobbin Mill papers (translucent line flax)
24" x 360" each
Installation

Three 30 feet tall scrolls furl up out of their respective boxes -- abstractions of vertical readings of books. The translucent sheets are embedded with three different materials: eggshell, tea leaves and mica, and they are interspersed with watermarked images of abstracted biomorphic forms, which reference the decorative details of the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts. This installation was exhibited at this museum in 1994, the Omni Gallery, 1995 and finally, at St. Peter's Church, 1996.
