Chocolate Cake
Inredients
- 2 cups of boiling water
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 and 3/4 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1/2 of a teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 of a teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of butter
- 2 and 1/4 cups of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 1 and 1/2 cups of confectionary sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Recipe
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease or spray baking spray on two 9 inch baking pans.
- In medium bowl, pour boiling water over cocoa, and whisk until smooth. Let mixture cool.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at time, then stir in vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture alternately with the cocoa mixture. Spread batter evenly between the 2 prepared pans.
- Pour batter into pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Test with toothpick.
- Let cool before Icing.
Icing
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then add milk. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Sift together cocoa and confectioners sugar. Blend into butter mixture and add vanilla. If consistency is too stiff, add more milk.
