Tools for Cake Decorating:
1. Pastry Bag. If you need a quick makeshift pastry bag use a gallon sized plastic bag.
Pour icing into the bag and cut a small hole at one of the bottom corners.
2. Food Coloring, best to get a multipack to make different color creations.
3. Cake Leveler to make different layered cakes and cookies.
4. Pastry Bag Tips, it is best to get these in a whole set, rather than individually.
5. Cake Stand, to display the cake!
Ingredient Substitutions:
1 tablespoon of cornstarch = 2 tablespoons regular flour
1 ounce of semi-sweet chocolate = 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 ounce of unsweetened chocolate.
1 cup of cake flour = 1 cup of regular flour minus 2 tablespoons.
1 cup of sugar = 1 cup of packed brown sugar.
1 cup of light brown sugar = 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar.
