Tikal

Tikal is a Mayan site located in Quatemala, in the Northern Petén Region. During the Classic Period (A.D.250-900) this site is believed to have been one of the largest populated cities of its time. Tikal is made up of a number of large temples and pyramids which are surrounded by jungle. The majority of the site is comprised of religous structures, also making it one of the largest Mayan ceremonial centers in Mesoamerica.
