Who Made This Site?
"Who made this site," you ask? Well, I did, Laura. I'm a 24-year-old graduate
student of Library and Information Science at C.W. Post Long Island University
and I made "Secret Santa, Simplified" for a class called "Passive Website
Architecture," or more commonly "LIS650." I graduated with my bachelor's degree
in Interpersonal/Intercultural Communication from SUNY New Paltz in May 2006,
and I've been sad about leaving since the morning I
drove away. I like travel, music, writing novels, photography, interesting food,
and children's books.
I consider myself to be the biggest December holiday fanatic around.
One year, at about 17½-months-old, I posed for the picture to the right with a light up Santa
Claus my grandparents had on their lawn, and I'm pretty sure that's the moment that I realized
Christmas was special. I also celebrate Hanukkah, which definitely gets more
elaborate and exciting every December. Each year, starting on November 1st, I listen, pretty much, only
to holiday music, and I even sneak an occasional Christmas tune in July or
August. Crazy, maybe. I call it "festive."
Considering what a
holiday fanatic I am, I have partaken in a shockingly small number of Secret
Santa exchanges. There were two, to be exact. Both times I have been faced with
the same awkward gift confusion. With this site, I've really tried to help Secret Santa's
either choose gifts, or get a jumping off point for choosing a gift.
Basically, I shopped for a school project.
