Falling Leaves

All the leaves are falling down
(flutter fingers downward)
Orange and green, red and brown.
(flutter fingers )
Falling, falling 1..2..3
(flutter fingers downward)
falling, falling for you and me.

Once There was a Pumpkin

Once there was a pumpkin
(join the fingers of each hand.)
And it grew,
And grew,
(Slowly separate the hands)
And grew
(join hands before you, making large pumpkin with a arms.)
Now it’s a jack-o-lantern
And smiles at you,
(With a smile, point to various children).
And you, and you

Spring Fingerplays

Little Raindrops

This is the sun, high up in the sky.
(Form large circle with arms up)
A dark cloud suddenly comes sailing by.
(Move hands through the air in
a parallel motion.)
These are the raindrops,
(bring arms down, flutter fingers)
Pitter, pattering down.
Watering the flowers,
(Cup hands to form flowers.)
growing on the ground.

The Flower

Here’s a green leaf,
(show hand)
And here’s a green leaf,
(show other hand)
That, you see, makes two.
(hold up two fingers)
Here is a bud,
(cup hands together)
that makes a flower;
Watch it bloom for you!
(open cupped hands gradually).

Winter Fingerplays

Chubby Little Snowman

A chubby little snowman had a carrot nose.
(form snowman with right fist, with thumb sticking out
for a carrot nose)
Along came a bunny, and what
do you suppose?
(use two fingers of left hand to hop to snowman).
That hungry little bunny, looking for his lunch,
Ate that snowman’s carrot nose
(bunny grabs snowman’s nose)
Nibble, nibble, crunch

Summer Fingerplays

Day At the Beach

Ocean Breeze blowing,
(sway arms back and forth).
Feet kick and splash,
(kick feet ).
Ocean waves breaking on rocks
with a crash.
(clap hands loudly)
Boys finding seashells,
(look down pick up pretend shell)
Girls sifting sand,
(pretend to sift)
Friends building castles,
(put one hand on top of the other)
As high as they can.
I stretch my arms out,
(arms out to sides),
Far as they’ll reach. Oh my, what fun
on this day at the beach.
