Greetings, readers,

Funny to think, isn't it, that just six months ago the men of book club were out to find new women and now the women have taken over? This time, women outnumbered men by 3:1. Welcome to new member Jeanne, who is book club's first television personality! I'm happy to report that for the second consecutive month, the remaining men of book club voted Sasha most popular! Will you all stop drooling now? Please? And Sasha, the girls of book club really loved your shoes--those are hot.

Thanks to Laura and Sherry for their fabulous hospitality and thanks to Nancy for insisting on the eggplant Parmesan. Really, does anyone want to take some home? Nancy will color coordinate your Tupperware and organize your refrigerator for you. Laura continues to out-do herself on desserts--I think the apple crisp is our top rated dessert so far.

In a book club first, everyone finished the book and I think we're all clear that its not about shopping, right? While there was no consensus about Holly or the author (is he or isn't he?) we all agreed that it was a good story and that Audrey Hepburn was NOT the correct casting choice for Holly. For those interested, Hilary is building a compendium of Truman Capote lore and Nate is determining the exact location of the building used in the movie (now inhabited by Martha Stewart's broker). Additionally, as part of her pharmapsychophysiological studies, Sherry will review and determine which personality altering medications Holly would be an appropriate candidate for. Lithium? Prozac?

Please mark your calendars (Tom, this means you!)--December 17 will be our book club holiday party, location and time TBA. Kathryn is planning this event, although considering no one has seen or heard from her, she may have skipped town instead. Kathryn, please let us know if you have in fact abandoned book club. Our next book is "An American Tragedy", which is almost a zillion pages. If you started the book yesterday, you needed to read 15 pages a day to finish the book by our next meeting on January 21. Matt will be available to calculate pages per day and estimated reading time for those who need a more personalized program. Please email him your words per minute reading rate and your estimated procrastination schedule. For those who didn't watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" a la George Castanza, there is still time! Rent "Place in the Sun" instead.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and happy reading!
