Pediatric Pre-Op Program

The staff of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center invites you and your child to tour our facilities prior to your child's admission.

St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center offers a special surgical preparation program to help assure that your child's visit to the hospital is positive and comfortable. New experiences can be exciting, but they can also create normal fears and apprehensions in your child. The use of discussion, demonstration, and a tour will help to alleviate some of these apprehensions and assist us in providing a positive experience for you and your child.

Skilled hospital professionals who understand how your child feels about hospitalization will be available to guide you through the surgical experience. The program will include a visit to all the areas your child will encounter during his or her visit to the hospital. He or she will be given the opportunity to ask questions and handle some of the equipment that will be used during their actual visit.

We encourage anyone four years old or older to participate in this program. However, we will allow children yournger than four years to participate.
This program is offered on an individual basis. To arrange for a visit, please contact the Child Life Coordinator, at (212) 523-8377. They will be glad to answer questions about your child's admission and make an appointment for your visit.
