About this Site

The author of this site is Maria Enaboifo. It was created for a course in the Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University. The name of the course is LIS 650 - Passive Website Architecture and Design. The intent of the site is to create a research guide for ballroom dance online. The information comes from a Ballroom Dance Research Guide/Project written for another class in the library program (LIS 511 - Information Sources and Services).

This site was commissioned by someone who is very interested in ballroom dance. She requested information about the history of the different forms of social dance, as well as the dancers.

The site's intended audience is all researchers interested in ballroom dance. Dance research, in general, is available on the web. However, information regarding specific forms of dance, such as ballroom/social dance, is pretty scarce. Often, what is obtainable online are dance schools and instruction. This site seeks to provide: annotated print and web bibliographies; a short discussion on the use of specific resources; current news in ballroom dance and dance research and a works cited list.

This site was created October 2008. Last revision: April 2010.
