Fiction: Plot

Plot is the sequence of events in a scene or story. Plot can be used to add tension to a story, develop characters, or to set-up a specific outcome.

Exercise: Live or Die

Choose a moment in your story where the character must make a critical decision or perform an action. With a six-sided die assign possible decisions or actions your character may take to some or all of the numbers.

For example, if a 1 or 2 is rolled, the charcter will not reveal his secret, if a 3-4 is rolled the character will hint to a secret, but it may be missed by the other characters, and if a 5-6 is rolled the character will blurt out the secret and may cost another character to be harmed.

After you roll the die, finish the scene based on that decision or action.
