A: If the child is the primary driver of a car, then yes, they should. If they share your car, you may be entitled to a discount if the child takes the course. Contact your insurance company to be sure.

Q: What is a pre-licensing course? Can I get a MV-278 certificate through Driver Safety Program?

A: The pre-licensing course is a five hour class that all new drivers who did not take Drivers Education must attend before they can schedule their road test. The Driver Safety Program course does not count as a substitute. Contact your local DMV for information about the pre-licensing course.

A: Absolutely. The Defensive Driving discount is given in addition to any discount given for Drivers Education.
