Friedrich Schorr

Hungarian, later American, bass-baritone (2 Sep 1888 - 14 Aug 1953). He studied in Vienna and initially sang small roles with the Chicago Opera (1912). His official debut came in Graz as Wotan. Thereafter he sang in Prague, Cologne, Berlin, N.Y., London (Covent Garden), and Bayreuth. He was considered by many to be the greatest Wotan of the 1920s and the 1930s.
