Finishing Techniques

Things To Know

To end the work

To end your work, finish with a slip stitch. Cut the yarn leaving a 5" to 6" tail. Pull out the last loop and tighten to secure the end. With the blunt needle, weave the tail into the stitches to hide and secure the piece.

Seaming Techniques

Are used when projects are made up of two or more pieces that have to be joined together.

Overcast

This is the easiest way of joining two pieces. Simply place the pieces right sides (front of pieces) facing together. Match up the stitches and then and sew the seam with a matching piece of yarn with the blunt needle.

Slip Stitch Seam

Place pieces wrong sides (back of pieces) facing together. Match up the stiches, then join with a slip stich through the corresponding stich to create the seam. This creates a decorative seam.

Remember - Leave a length of yarn to weave into stitches and secure.
