Mission Statement
My website discusses selected libraries, churches and museums in New York City. I chose these sites because each one possesses a unique speciality, including cultural origins, architecture or history.
About the Author
I am a native New Yorker. I received my Masters degree in Library Service in 1991 from Columbia University. I have worked as a corporate librarian in investment banking and publishing, as well as a part-time reference librarian at Pace University and The New York Public Library, Science and Technology division. I will soon commence an Advanced Certificate in Records and Archival Management at C.W. Post's Palmer School.
The Ottendorfer Library is located on Second Avenue, between 7th and 8th Streets. It opened in INSERT YEAR. When one enters this ibrary, one enters another world. It is the last remaining Carneige Library in New York City.
Tompkins Square Library
The Methodist Church is located on 7th Street between First and Second Avenue. This church is famous because it served the German immigrant community during the mid 1800s. It opened in INSERT YEAR. During a church picnic up the East River, the boat carrying mostly mothers and children capsized. The church was closed for many years, and re opened as another religion.
Old St. Patrick's Church
Since January 2001, I teach in the College of Information and Computer Science at Long Island University. A list of my courses is available. Since July 2005, I also supervise a few students at the Faculty of Information Technology of Novosibirsk State University.
