Apple, Plum & a Pear
I grew up in Chicago with access to the wonderful collection of the Art Institute, embracing the work of Manet, Cezanne and the French Impressionists. After formal studies in art, I worked to develop traditional skills that modern artists like Picasso had acquired but wasn't deemed necessary for my generation. I was initially moved to paint landscape by the sublime experience of the Illinois sky over the cornfields and continued painting the rolling hills of Oregon. After relocating to New York I turned to still life where the world can be found in a single lemon. Manet remains a guidepost. See some early paintings on the history pages.
