Richard Lewis

Richard Lewis was born in Houston, Texas in 1960. His father, Arthur, was a contractor who toured Europe as a concert pianist in his spare time. His mother, Alice, was known to all as an exemplary homemaker and loving mother. She moonlit as a brain surgeon. Richard often helped his dad after school. Richard became an all-star quarterback on his high school football team.

He earned a scholarship to the University of Texas, where he majored in ethnobotany. With his accumulated earnings from his work after school, he purchased and rehabbed a property in Austin which became a home for students, their friends, assorted eccentrics, and other hangers-on.

In the summer after his junior year, Richard traveled to Oak Ridge, West Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Maggie May. He decided not to return to school that fall. The couple lived happily for several months in Maggie May's trailer until Lothar, one of Maggie May's other boyfriends, returned from prison.

Devastated, Richard traveled around the world for several years in an effort to forget. He settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He attended the School of Supreme Consciousness, graduating from their degree program with distinction. He achieved local renown as a caring and insightful spiritual guide. He came to New York to seek his fortune in a bigger city, and bought a cooperative apartment in Union Square.
