Programs for
PRE-K TO SECOND GRADE


A local History of Community and Household at the Judge J. Lawrence Smith Homestead
This program introduces children to teh concepts of community and family responsibilities, and invites children to imagine the life of the Smith Family during the Victorian period. The concept of the library as a community resource is explored while visiting the small library on our museum grounds. Children have hands-on experiences with games, books and vintage laundry equipment of the era. Children will do laundry and make their own soap to take home.
Offered only in the Spring
One and a half hour program.
Learning Standards #1, 4 and 5

Visit with our feathered friends, as we tour the farm and learn about farm traditions that continue today. This program emphasizes the seasonal nature of farm life and food productions. Students explore and participate in the work and play involved in the garden, barnyard and kitchen.
Offered only in the Fall and Spring
One and a half hour program.
